he hills and forests are covered in a green mantle that invites long walks, surrounded by birdsong, far from the city noise.

Lose yourself along the ancient Via Romea Sanese path, which connects Florence to Siena, crossing the entire Chianti region, or choose one of the many paths of the Chianti Classico Hiking Trail Network, which will take you discover villages, parish churches, castles and nature areas, such as that of the splendid Badia a Passignano.

"On foot, by bicycle or on horseback, you choose the best way to explore them."

Also, not to be missed is a visit to the Chianti Botanical Park, in Barberino Tavernelle: an unspoiled forest where the local flora and fauna find protection, starting with the splendid orchids.

The most spectacular spot, however, to admire Chianti in spring is from the sky: in fact, this is the season during which hot-air balloons flight again from San Casciano Val di Pesa or Barberino Tavarnelle. You can choose between flights in pairs or in groups, for a 360- degree observation over the rows-clad hills of Chianti, touching even the Val d’Elsa region.

This is also the season in which the villages are filled with a thousand colours: from Castellina in Chianti to Greve and Radda, from Barberino Tavarnelle to San Casciano Val di Pesa passing through Castelnuovo Berardenga, every alley or street is full of the scent of flowering balconies.

So, there are so many events to enliven them, with fairs and festivals in every municipality, often dedicated to the flavours of the region: among the appointments not to be missed are the Steak Festival in Mercatale, the Medieval Carnival in San Casciano Val di Pesa, Radda nel bicchiere (literally Radda in a glass), I vini nel Castello in Montefioralle (Wines in the Montefioralle Castle), I profumi di Lamole (Lamole perfumes), the Infiorata di San Donato (Floral display in San Donato) and the Bruscello di San Gusmè (Shrub of San Gusmè).

If you are a sport enthusiast, finally put yourself to the test!

You can choose between the routes of the Chianti Ultra Trail, held in March in Radda in Chianti, or the Chianti Classico Marathon, in June, between San Casciano Val di Pesa and Greve in Chianti: between one race and the next, through villages and vineyards, you won’t miss a Chianti Classico tasting!
