Municipality San Casciano in Val di Pesa

OUTDOOR / TRAILS / CHIANTI

The route begins in Bardella on Via Gentilino at the junction with Via Artigianato-Via Pertini.

It follows via Gentilino on a paved road and after a short while becomes gravel, crossing the Borro Suganella to Spedaletto, 1.7 km. Turn left to street Scopeti. Follow the paved road for about 1 km past Sant'Andrea in Percussina to an obvious fork to the left with an isolated cypress tree.

Here you take the first unpaved farm road immediately to the left, which you follow, skirting an olive grove to the right and large vineyards to the left with a view of Villa Mangiacane (Villa Macchiavelli). We continue, now skirting a grove of oak trees and crossing the driveway towards the villa. We skirt the grove on the right and descend for a short distance, skirting the grove, to an uncultivated clearing below the Podere Palastra farm, from where a not very evident track leads to the farm. From here, you soon reach the paved road at Donda between Spedaletto and Chiesanuova.

Here you turn right and follow the tarmac road for about 1.1 km to the fork for the Ranocchiaia farm on the left. From the fork, follow the unpaved road for about 120 metres to a point where the unpaved road passes close to another unpaved road clearly visible on the right. Cross over and reach the adjacent road and turn left. The small road crosses an open olive grove and ends in the forest where the path begins.

We follow the evident path downhill until we reach Borro La Suganella. It is possible with a digression of a few hundred metres to reach the centuries-old Sequoia. Cross the stream and again follow the evident track uphill until you reach a dwelling where Via di Cigliano begins.

We now continue along the unpaved Via di Cigliano, passing through the small village of the same name. We then pass by the monumental Villa Antinori, reaching the junction with Via dell'Artigianato, which we follow until we reach the point from which we started.
