Municipality Castellina in Chianti

OUTDOOR / TRAILS/ CHIANTI

The trail starts from the hamlet of Lornano, an ancient post office of the Republic of Siena, and follows a road of ancient origin leading to the Castle of Rencine, an ancient Florentine outpost of the Castle of Monteriggioni, where, in addition to the remains of the ancient walls destroyed by the Aragonese allies of Siena, there is the ancient Church of Saint Michael, formerly a hospital on one of the routes upstream of the Francigena.
