Ring of Ruffoli

Municipality Greve in Chianti

OUTDOOR / TRAILS / CHIANTI

The route starts from Greve's famous triangular market square and continues through the scenic area of Melazzano hill, a very important settlement in medieval times.

Passing the Richiari stream, after a wooded itinerary, you will come to Ruffoli, an ancient medieval settlement, where the center of Santa Lucia a Barbiano with its medieval church and 19th-century cemetery is recognizable above.

The road continues towards the locality of Masso Tondo to reach the municipal road of San Michele at Il Tiglio.

From here, it is possible to reach Monte San Michele or return to Greve along the same municipal road. Along the way, in the locality of Caprolo, we will meet the quarries of 'Pietraforte' which are still active today. The material is typical of the area and often used, even in antiquity, for buildings and decorations.
